This is an instructional program that prepares students for employment as emergency medical technicians to function at the basic pre-hospital emergency medical technician (basic) level and treat various medical/trauma conditions using appropriate equipment and materials. The program prepares students for certification as EMTs in accordance with Chapter 64E-2 of the Florida Administrative Code.
Typically, a student may expect to complete this course in 330 hours. Students who do not meet the minimum grade levels for this program (Reading: 10.0, Math: 10.0, Language: 10.0) will be required to enroll in the Vocational Preparatory Instruction Lab for remediation in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Fire Fighter II

The purpose of this cluster is to prepare students for employment as a Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, and a Fire Apparatus Operator. Upon completion of this program of training the student must take and pass the Minimum Standards Examination of the Bureau of Fire Standards.
Additionally, this is an instructional program that prepares individuals to provide initial care to sick or injured persons. The 40 hour First Responder training (P430213) is included in this program and the Emergency Medical Technician program.
The fire fighter program content includes, but is not limited to: orientation to the fire service, fire alarms and communication, vehicles, apparatus and equipment, fire behavior, portable extinguishers, fire stream, fundamentals of extinguishment, ladders, hoses, tools and equipment, forcible entry, salvage, overhaul, ventilation, rescue, protective breathing equipment, first responder emergency medical techniques, water supplies, and employment skills.
The primary purpose of Fire Fighter I (8918110)training is to prepare volunteers to become fire fighters.
Teacher Assisting

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as substitute teachers (SOC 25-9000) and teacher aides (OES 31521 & SOC 25-9041). This is a job preparatory career and technical program. The teacher assisting program is designed to support teaching activities for students in classroom settings.
This program is a planned sequence of instructions and will allow students to complete specified portions of the program for employment or remain for advanced training.
Typically, a student may expect to complete this program in 450 hours. Students who do not meet the minimum grade levels for this program (Reading: 10.0, Math 10.0, Language: 10) will be required to enroll in the Technical Resource Center for remediation in order to receive a certificate of completion.
